Baltimore's Vibes, 7 Days a Week
Ease-into-it Monday, and the city's cooperating. A world-renowned sculptor is in town for a talk worth clearing your evening for, Metal Monday hits episode 197, the Bluebird's free jazz jam does what it's done every Monday for years, and Le Mondo's got queer karaoke going. Live music is unusually quiet tonight — we checked every reliable room in the city and most of them are dark — but we found and verified 18 real, worth-leaving-the-couch events everywhere else. Here's where to go.
🎵 Music & Nightlife
Jules Riser & Ken G. Shorts @ Cat's Eye Pub
Two singer-songwriters trading sets in the Fells Point dive bar that's been doing live music right for decades. No ticket, no fuss — just grab a stool and let the night stretch out. 6 PM.
Monday Night Swing & Lindy Hop @ Mobtown Ballroom & Café
No partner? No problem — there's a beginner lesson built right in before the real dancing starts. Doors and drinks at 7, lesson at 8, dancing after. $10 gets you the whole night.
Dat Feel Good Jazz Jam @ Motor House
Clarence Ward III hosts Baltimore's most reliable Monday jazz session — real players, real improvisation, zero pretension. Free to walk in with a 2-item minimum. 7 to 10 PM.

Janet Echelman: Radical Softness — Artist Talk + Book Signing

You've seen her work even if you've never heard her name — those massive, glowing net sculptures that hang like clouds over city streets and harbors from Boston to Shanghai. Janet Echelman built a career turning fishing-net techniques into some of the most photographed public art on the planet, and tonight she's at UMBC to talk through the sculpture, architecture, and material science behind it, then sign her new book. Seats need advance registration — it's free, link below — and if you only make time for one artist talk this month, make it this one.
That's a Wrap!
That's a wrap on Monday. Tomorrow's edition is already taking shape — same time, same place. Until then: yodel it from the rooftops. 🗣️⛰️
