Baltimore's Vibes, 7 Days a Week
Monday's here, and Baltimore's easing into the week without checking out: the Ottobar's calling all metalheads upstairs, Mobtown's teaching you to swing dance before the floor opens, Abby Govindan's headlining The Port, and the O's host the Blue Jays under the lights at Camden Yards. Seventeen verified ways to make a Monday count — pick one and go outside.
🎵 Music & Nightlife
Metal Monday! @ Upstairs at the Ottobar
Fifteen-plus years deep and still going: death, thrash, black metal, stoner riffs — all of it, all night, spun upstairs at Baltimore's scrappiest rock club. 21+, doors at 9 PM. Low-key Monday, maximum volume.
Monday Night Swing @ Mobtown Ballroom
Bar and kitchen open at 7, a beginner lesson kicks off at 8, then the floor's yours till late — no partner, no experience, no excuses. Ten bucks gets you swing dancing in a converted Remington rowhouse that smells like good bourbon and better decisions.
Django Jazz Jam @ The Bluebird
Gypsy jazz — Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli style, hot swing and bebop standards — courtesy of the Hot Club of Baltimore. No cover, just tip the band. Hampden's Bluebird turns into a proper jazz café from 6:30 to 10.
Jules Riser & Jimmy Brink @ Cat's Eye Pub
A Fell's Point cover duo running through six decades of songs you actually know, 6 to 10 PM, in the pub that's been doing this longer than most of its patrons have been drinking legally.
Piano Jazz @ Tagliata
A rotating cast of Baltimore musicians works a 1926 Steinway in the lounge of this Little Italy restaurant — no cover, no pretense, just dinner with a soundtrack that's actually good.
🎤 Comedy
Abby Govindan: Pushing 30 @ The Port Comedy Club
The viral-tweet-era comic, now a legit headliner, brings her stand-up hour to Fells Point. Doors 7:30, show 8 PM, $30, 21+.
The Open Mic @ The Port Comedy Club
Same room, same night, way cheaper: The Port's weekly open mic gives the city's up-and-comers a stage. Free, doors 9:15, sets start 9:30, 21+.
🎨 Arts & Culture
Leyla Faye Artist Talk @ MICA (Brown Center, Falvey Hall)
This year's McMillan Stewart Endowed Chair of Painting talks self-portraiture as "deliberate undoing" — free, open to the public, noon to 1 PM. A real chance to hear a working painter think out loud.
Figure Drawing With Live Models @ Meander Art Bar
Grab a sketchbook (or borrow one) for two hours of live figure drawing, with an optional intro class at 7 if you want pointers first. Recurring every third Monday — pricing runs in tiers, so check the ticket page before you go.
🎬 Screen Time
Movie Monday: In the Heights @ Enoch Pratt Free Library (Pennsylvania Ave)
Free screening at 4 PM — part of the library's teen programming, but open to anyone who wants two hours of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Washington Heights on a Monday afternoon.
Practical Magic 2 @ The Senator Theatre
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back as the Owens sisters, three decades later. Every Monday is $9 at the Senator, with shows at 12:40, 3:40, and 6:30 PM.
Resident Evil @ The Senator Theatre
The 2026 reboot gets the big-screen treatment at 12:50 and 6:50 PM — same $9 Monday pricing as everything else on the marquee.
⚾ Sports & Outdoors
Orioles vs. Blue Jays @ Oriole Park at Camden Yards
First pitch 6:35 PM as Baltimore opens a series with Toronto down the stretch of the season. No promo or giveaway confirmed for tonight — just baseball, which is plenty.
A Tribe Called Run: Never Miss a Monday @ R. House
A free weekly group run for every pace — meet at 6, take off at 6:30. Sweat out the Sunday scaries with strangers who'll be friends by the second mile.
🦀 Community, Food & Family
Chess Club @ Peabody Heights Brewery
Drop-in chess, all skill levels, hosted by the Charles Village Chess Club — bring your own board or borrow one, beer's optional but recommended. Free, 4 to 9 PM.
One Maryland One Book Discussion: No Sense in Wishing @ Enoch Pratt Free Library (Cherry Hill)
A community read-and-discuss of Baltimore writer Lawrence Burney's essay collection, this year's statewide pick. Free, 2 to 3 PM, registration required.
⭐ Our Bonus Pick
7 PM · The Charles Theatre · tickets via box office
Leave Her to Heaven @ The Charles Theatre
The 1945 Technicolor noir that turned suburban jealousy into pure, gorgeous menace gets a real revival screening tonight — no streaming service, no algorithm, just a dark room and John M. Stahl's lushest, most unhinged melodrama on the big screen where it belongs. Gene Tierney's performance as Ellen Berent is one of the coldest, most controlled pieces of acting Hollywood ever produced, dressed up in candy-colored Technicolor so it barely registers as a warning. Monday nights don't get much better than 110 minutes of vintage psychological damage in a real movie theater.
That's a Wrap!
Seventeen ways to spend your Monday, from Metal Monday's death-DJ set to a 1945 noir classic on the big screen. Tuesday's already stacking up bigger — 38 events and counting, 23 of them music alone — so get some sleep and come back hungry.
Until then: yodel it from the rooftops. 🗣️⛰️
