Baltimore's Vibes, 7 Days a Week
Midweek, and Baltimore's still bringing it. The headliner tonight: Simon Phillips — the Grammy-nominated drummer who's played with Toto and The Who — lands at Keystone Korner with his fusion outfit Protocol 6 for one night only. The O's host the Yankees at Camden Yards with a Bravo Night hat giveaway, Pauly Shore brings decades of stand-up to Magooby's, and Six: The Musical Live! wraps its three-night run at the Charles. It's a quieter Wednesday than usual — we ran this one hard and the harvest came back thin, so tonight it's 16 verified picks, not our usual 20-plus. Quality over padding. Read on, then get out there.

⭐ Our Bonus Pick
7 PM · Keystone Korner Baltimore · $15–$55
Simon Phillips & Protocol 6 @ Keystone Korner Baltimore
This is not a drill: a Grammy-nominated drummer who's played with Toto and The Who, sitting in an intimate jazz supper club with his own fusion band, on a random Wednesday in Baltimore. Protocol 6 leans hard into technical fusion — expect a masterclass, not background music. Rooms like Keystone don't get nights like this often. Go.
That's a Wrap!
That's tonight — 16 verified picks, headlined by a Grammy-nominated drummer in a room that seats a couple hundred people. Thursday's edition lands tomorrow with a fuller slate. Until then: yodel it from the rooftops. 🗣️⛰️

Editor's Notes (not for publication)
Thin night, flagged loudly: This edition landed at 16 verified events, below our 20–30 target. Three research passes across every Tier 1–3 Music & Nightlife source (Ottobar, Metro Bmore, Baltimore Soundstage, CFG Bank Arena, Nevermore Hall, Wax Atlas, An die Musik, Mobtown, Zissimos, Pier Six, Merriweather, WTMD) confirmed genuinely dark venues, not missed listings. Comedy is thin too — only Pauly Shore held up.
Pulled for cause: "Majah Hype" @ Baltimore Comedy Factory (scaffolded but the venue's live ticketing feed shows nothing between now and Chico Bean on 8/21 — likely cancelled or wrong date, cut rather than risk it). "AEW Dynamite" at CFG Bank Arena surfaced in a general search but AEW's own site lists that Baltimore date as August 12, not the 19th — wrong-date trap, avoided.
Cut as not-a-real-event: two duplicate "Fundamentals of Improv" student showcases (post-course recital, not public draw), "Charm City Connections" (participatory workshop, not a show), "Industry Social Club: Healthcare" @ BMI (networking event), Multimodal Figure Drawing @ Red Emma's (redundant with the Creative Alliance figure drawing pick).
Discrepancies resolved: Reginald F. Lewis Museum's own site has conflicting hours (header says closed Wed, footer says open Wed–Sun) — the fact that they scheduled Golden Hour on a Wednesday confirms Wed–Sun is current; flag for the master source doc. Summer Psychic Fair scaffolded under two names ("Baltimore Magazine events" and "Elks Lodge") — real venue is Glen Burnie Elks Lodge #2266, 878 Stevenson Rd, Severn — outside city limits, included with a callout.
Click-check needed: Simon Phillips/Keystone Korner ticket link (instantseats.com) and the 48 Hour Film Project link (eventbrite.com) are on bot-blocked domains — lifted verbatim from the venue's own listings per policy, not independently re-fetched. Please click both before send.
Dark tonight: Ottobar main stage, Metro Bmore (beyond the Pitch Party), Baltimore Soundstage, CFG Bank Arena, Nevermore Hall, An die Musik, Mobtown Ballroom, Zissimos Bar, Pier Six, Merriweather, BMA, Hippodrome, Theatre Project, Current Space, AVAM, Fells Point Corner Theatre, Chesapeake Shakespeare, Aberdeen IronBirds, Union Craft, Guilford Hall, Belvedere Square, Cylburn.
Source hygiene note: Wax Atlas's events page (shows.waxatlas.com/events/) is serving stale cached content from March–April 2023 despite fresh URLs — flag as broken in ccy_sources, same failure class as the old Rams Head trap.
New find added to ccy_events: Wellness on the Waterfront: Yoga, a free recurring Wednesday outdoor class confirmed active through September — wasn't in the harvest at all.
Confidence: every listed event was checked against the venue's own page or a primary source (MLB Stats/Baseball-Reference for the Orioles, AEW's own site for the wrestling non-match). Nothing here was guessed.
